Data sources
AgriOps reads a small number of published datasets alongside the records its customers enter. This page credits each one, under the terms its publisher asks for. It lists datasets, not the companies that process personal data for us: those are on the sub-processor list.
1. Administrative boundaries
The list of Nigeria's 774 Local Government Areas, and the state outlines used to file a mapped farm under its state, come from the Nigeria subnational administrative boundaries (COD-AB) published by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, with the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation (OSGOF) as source. 2. Forest loss
The deforestation screen checks a farm boundary against the Hansen/UMD/Google/USGS/NASA Global Forest Change 2000–2024 dataset, version v1.12. Hansen, M. C. et al. 2013. "High-Resolution Global Maps of 21st-Century Forest Cover Change." Science 342: 850–53. Licensed under CC BY 4.0.
3. Vegetation and soil moisture
Vegetation readings are derived from Sentinel-2 imagery of the European Union's Copernicus programme. Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data 2026. Soil moisture readings come from NASA's Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) mission. Both are retrieved and processed for AgriOps by EOS Data Analytics.
4. Map tiles
The base maps behind each farm boundary are © OpenStreetMap contributors and Esri World Imagery. Each map carries its own credit in its corner.
